The following is the detailed itinerary for the Kili – Climbing
Day 1:
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport Stan Tours representative will be there to meet and greet you. It’s a 37km drive to your base hotel. Protea Hotel Aishi Machame which is situated in one of the best locations in East Africa right on the slopes of Mountain Kilimanjaro, just 3 degrees south of the equator with it’s two world famous peaks of Kibo (permanently snow-capped)
It’s a family built hotel on the famous Machame ascent route to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It’s 69km from the City of Arusha with only a 20-minute drive to the Town of Moshi. The hotel’s 30 bedrooms have all been completely refurbished to the Protea Hotel’s Group International standards.
Protea Hotel Aishi Machame with an air of country elegance is surrounded by coffee and banana plantations and set within beautiful gardens at the bottom of which flows a fast moving river of melted glacial water from the mountain.
Once you have checked in the remainder of the day is yours for you to sit back and soak up the ambience the hotel has to offer with it’s solar heated swimming pool where spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro can be seen.
Day 2:
After an early breakfast the local guide from Machame will be taking you on a twenty-minute hike from the hotel to Mokoa Waterfalls that is formed from the Mokoa River. The falls are located 3km from the hotel. All the way, banana and coffee plantations are to be found. While admiring the 10 meters high waterfalls one gets the opportunity to see the indigenous people conducting their daily activities.
It was back in 2004 that this remarkable photograph was taken of the Makoa Waterfalls by aid worker for Aid into Africa. On the day many photographs were taken by the press from the UK who were monitoring the project of helping the children of Kilimanjaro with their educational needs however none of their photographs showed this image. What do think this image is?
After your lunch in the afternoon Stan Tours driver guide/manager will take you for a trip in Moshi town. You will be shown the local traditional market and visit the handicapped people market (Shah Industries), you will be able to purchase pure leather items such as bags, belts, wallets, purses etc as well as other curious and carvings.
With numerous orphanages in the region you will be taken to one of these establishments to witness first hand the plight of these children. As explained it will be you the visitor that’s assisting in the Aid into Africa food project. With official figures saying that there’s 20,000 plus orphans in the Kilimanjaro region so our task is mammoth and yes it’s your support that’s making this project work. THANK YOU
Later in the evening your driver will drive you back to the hotel for your overnight and the tour manager will brief you all in the 6 days that lie ahead for your Climbing to the Roof of Africa
Sleep well and of course GOOD LUCK
